Photographing families is always an adventure, but when you add up 22 people, 90+ degree heat, and a healthy mosquito population, you get a session that feels part family reunion, part survival camp.
The good news? This family came ready. They rolled with the heat, they powered through the bug bites, and the kids… well, the kids did what kids do best: reminded us all that posing perfectly is overrated. The outtakes (tiny humans running in the opposite direction, cousins whispering mid-photo, and one very suspicious toddler giving me side-eye) were almost as good as the frame-worthy shots.
Large families can be intimidating to photograph, but honestly? They’re some of my favorites. There’s just something about seeing generations squeezed together, laughing, swatting mosquitoes, and making memories in the midst of everything that makes the photos even better.
So if you’re wondering whether your big, loud, slightly chaotic family could ever pull off a session like this, the answer is yes. And spoiler alert: the “imperfections” are usually the moments you’ll love the most.
